Ronald R. Dyer, 79, resident of Plainville, MA since 1983 passed away on April 24, 2015. Ron was born September 18, 1935 in Tekoa, WA; one of two boys and eights girls born to Clarence Raymond and Marie (Rotramel) Dyer. He graduated from Tekoa High School in 1953 and served in the US Air Force where he studied electronics. While stationed on the East coast he met Ursula Lynch, the love of his life. Ron and Ursula were married on May 16, 1959, and made their home for many years in Tolland, CT, where they raised their four children and a multitude of pets. Ron spent a number of those years coaching his sons in the Tolland Boys League. Prior to his retirement, Ron was employed as Director of Physical Distribution by Eastco for nearly 25 years. He then worked for JWP and Circuit City. He enjoyed working with his hands and always had a household project in the pipeline. His amazing workshop was the scene of beautifully refinished antiques and flea market finds that people across the country are lucky enough to own. A high school basketball star, Ron loved traveling to March Madness games and watching them on television. He and Ursula traveled to visit their children and grandchildren and made several trips to England. He delighted in his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, regaling them with tall tales about the Nez Perce Indian tribe in eastern Washington State, where he grew up, and teaching them an original song entitled "I Climbed Tekoa Mountain". His sense of humor was legendary and he went to great lengths to pull off a prank. Ron is survived by his wife, Ursula; four children; Alison & husband Robert Smith of Vienna, VA; Lori & husband Bill Cooper of Prospect, KY; Jim Dyer & wife Jenny of Norfolk, MA; Kevin Dyer & wife Gaye of Washington, DC; six grandchildren; Ryan Cooper of Chicago, IL; James Smith and wife Anna of Sterling, VA; Rachel Cooper of Orlando, FL; Hannah Smith of Brooklyn, NY; Maeve and Michael Dyer of Norfolk, MA, as well as very special friends, the Eisele family. He is preceded in death by his parents, eight sisters and one brother. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 11:00 am at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland, RI 02864. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Sturdy Memorial Foundation, PO Box 2963, Attleboro, MA 02703.
