Roland Lester Vassar

Roland "Pito" Lester Vassar, 80, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2017 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Marcia Theresa Vassar, to whom he was married on May 24, 1955.Born on May 24, 1937 in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Benjamin R. Vassar and the late Lillian B. (Oullette) Vassar.A resident of North Attleboro for the past twenty years, Pito previously lived in Attleboro, as well as Rehoboth and Seekonk, MA. Retiring in 2000, he worked for almost forty years in the Auto Body field, primarily at Beau Motors and then with County Motors in Pawtucket, RI.He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pawtucket and attended Memorial Baptist Church in Attleboro. Pito enjoyed antique cars and attending car shows, woodworking, making bird houses, and especially being with his cherished family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children: Ann Marie Roy and her husband, Ronald J. Roy, of North Attleboro, MA; Cathleen L. Beattie and her husband, Kenneth B. Beattie, of Brandon, FL; Michael L. Vassar and his wife, Ann Marie (Murphy) Vassar, of Pawtucket, RI; Rick A. Vassar of North Attleboro, MA; and Mark A. Vassar of Attleboro, MA. He was the father of the late Joseph Roland Vassar. Pito was the adoring grandfather of eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Raymond C. Vassar and his wife, Loreen Vassar, of Pawtucket, RI; and Christine Renchan and her husband, Luke Renchan, of Pawtucket, RI, and leaves several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Roland by gathering for a Visitation on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
