Roland J. Deschenes, 83, formerly of North Attleboro, MA., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at his home in Jackson, MO. He was the beloved husband of the late Irene (Cote) Deschenes who died December 1, 2021.
Born in Attleboro, MA., on June 14, 1941, he was the son of the late Agenard Joseph (Jim) and Claire Marguerite (Chabot) Deschenes.
Roland was a man of strong faith in God and abundant love of all good people. These qualities endeared family, friends and strangers alike. Acquiring a Ph.D. in theology, he was a committed defender of his faith in God Almighty. He was a woodsman at heart, preferring the peace and quiet of the outdoors and of rural life. Roland was a philosopher and free thinker, debater, adviser, friend, confidante and loving caregiver to his wife and uncle. He was a connoisseur of good food and a gifted storyteller. Roland’s sudden and unexpected passing leaves an enormous and permanent void in our hearts. We will miss him until we are each reunited with him in Heaven! May his eternal soul rest in the peace and love of Almighty God.
Roland is survived by his loving children, Sue Parker (Roy) of Assonet, MA., Dianne Gaudreau of Webster, MA, Laurie Mojabi (Farrah) of Salt Lake City, UT, Richard Gaudreau (Angelica) of Rockland ME, and Christian Deschenes (Amanda) of Cape Girardeau, MO. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Lily, Tripp, Emerie, Chase, Sarah, Graham, Jacob, Jeremy, Samantha, Ella, Nolan and Charlotte and devoted siblings Annette, Helene, Gerard, Charles, and Paul of North Attleboro.
Relatives and friends are invited for visitation at Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church Street, North Attleboro, MA., on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the start of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
The Rite of Burial will be conducted following Mass for Roland and his dear wife Irene at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 326 Towne Street, North Attleboro, MA, where their remains will be interned with Roland’s parents, Claire and Agenard (Jim) Deschenes.
