Roger Amie Fleming

Roger Amie Fleming, 56, of Elm Street, North Attleboro, died on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on April 13, 1956, he was a son of the late Henry and Louise D. (Richard) Fleming. He was a graduate of North Attleboro High School. He was a lifelong resident of North Attleboro. Mr. Fleming proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS New Orleans (LPH 11) at the Subic Bay Naval Station as a military police officer and as a Boswainmate 2nd class. He served from his enlistment on July 2, 1975 until his honorable discharge on May 20, 1979. Mr. Fleming was a longtime advocate for veterans rights and services and volunteered much time and energy to furthering recognition of those whom graciously dedicated their time and lives to serve our nation. He was a member of the North Attleboro Honor Guard, served as adjutant and treasurer of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 5 in Wrentham, was an American Legion Adjutant, was a member and served as past Gold Rodent of the RATS, was a member of the 40/8, a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the Retired Enlisted Association. As ardent motorcyclist, Mr. Fleming was a member of the Patriot Riders New England Chapter 2. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed researching his family genealogy. He leaves two children: Reen Fleming and Clinton Fleming both of Mansfield; eight siblings: Wayne Kirlyo of Mansfield; Paul L. Fleming of Attleboro; Lucille Healey of South Attleboro; Stanley Kirlyo of Brockton; Peter Kirlyo of Norton; Rachel White of North Attleboro; Gene T. Woods of Attleboro and Teana Woods of Attleboro; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, one great nephew, one great niece, extended family members, dear friends and countless veterans. He was the brother of the late Louis Kirlyo. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veterans Honors and celebrate his life on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 5:00 7:30 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Following visitation a time of reflection and sharing will be available for family and friends from 7:30 8:00 PM on Monday, January 23, 2012 in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a local ride to visitation may simply call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Family and friends will be cordially invited to attend committal services with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, McArthur Boulevard, Bourne on a day and time to be announced.
