Roger Allen Condon, 74, of Broadway, North Attleboro, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Elaine L. (LaCasse) Condon to whom he was married in January 1957. Born in Newport, Maine on May 24, 1933, he was a son of the late William and Helen (Libby) Condon. He was raised and educated in Maine. He moved to North Attleboro following his marriage 51 years ago. Mr. Condon was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean War era. He always remained proud of his military service. As a professional truck driver for many years, he was a member of the Teamster?s Union Local #25 for more than 30 years. Mr. Condon was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, North Attleboro. A man who will be lovingly remembered as a person who would do anything to help anyone, he was a man of a strong work ethic that he passed on to other generations of his family. His hobbies included socializing with family and friends, fixing cars and had a lifelong love for airplanes and enjoyed attending air shows. When working and playing in trees, he was affectionately referred to as a ?tree monkey? by his family and friends since he was able to swing from branch to branch with more ease and grace than an actual monkey. In addition to his loving wife of 51 years, he leaves three children: Jeffrey A. Condon of Lincoln, Rhode Island; Jody Lambert of North Attleboro and Jay Condon of Danielson, Connecticut; nine grandchildren: Bryan and Brittany Condon of Lincoln, Rhode Island; Nicole, Matthew, Michael and Kasey Lambert all of North Attleboro; Kayla Condon of North Attleboro and Derek and Jarred Castro both of Providence, Rhode Island; two brothers: Herb Condon in Arizona and Harold Condon in Maine and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Condon was the father of the late Jamie Castro who died on April 15, 2000. He was predeceased by additional siblings. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran?s Honors on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 from 5:00 ? 8:00 PM in the ?Memorial Chapel? of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Church Street, North Attleboro with the Rev. David A. Costa, Pastor, officiating. Following church services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Private inurnment will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery Columbarium, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Condon?s name may be made to the Community Visiting Nurse Agency, 10 Emory Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
