Rocco Antonio Armillei, 79, of Carlgate Road, North Attleboro, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Massachusetts where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. He was the husband of the late Gail M. (Conlan) Armillei to whom he was married on July 26, 1958 and who died on November 25, 2009. Born in the family home in North Attleboro, Massachusetts on October 11, 1932, he was a son of the late Antonio and Loretta (Gemma) Armillei. He was raised and educated in North Attleboro where he remained a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of North Attleboro High School and earned his degree in aeronautical engineering from Boston University. Mr. Armillei was a veteran of the United States Navy having served from April 3, 1951 until his honorable discharge on September 27, 1956 when he transferred to the Reserves. He achieved the rank of EMP3 and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed as a test engineer for the former Fram Corporation and for the firm's successor, The Honeywell Corporation, for 32 years prior to his retirement in 1992. Mr. Armillei was a communicant of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls. In earlier years he enjoyed cooking so much he enrolled in cooking classes and continued to surpass his culinary expectations to the enjoyment of his family and friends for many years. A competitive Chess player in his younger years, he enjoyed showing his children the art of the game. Mr. Armillei had a small craft pilot's license and also enjoyed flying model airplanes. He leaves a daughter: Donna L. Armillei with whom he resided in North Attleboro; a sister-in-law: Lynne E. McKenna and her husband, Joseph H. McKenna, of North Attleboro; a niece: Sally Lazar and her husband, John Lazar, of North Attleboro; two nephews: Patrick McKenna and his wife, Irene McKenna, of Milford, Connecticut and Andrew McKenna and his wife, Stella McKenna, of Attleboro; his cherished feline companion: "Olive" and several extended family members and dear friends. He was the father of the late Dean R. Armillei who died in 1988 and was the brother of the late Francesca Armillei who died years ago at the age of eight. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are also welcomed to attend the funeral with Veteran's Honors on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 8:45 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, 105 Stanley Street (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, turn right onto Stanley Street in ½ mile and travel to end of Stanley Street), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Thomas A. Frechette, Pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Towne Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Please do not send flowers.
