Roberta A. (Smith) Kohler, 81, of Canterbury Woods, Garfield Avenue, Attleboro; formerly of Hobbs Street, Attleboro, died on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Golden Living Center Attleboro where she had been a brief resident. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Leonard Kohler to whom she was married on June 28, 1952 in Attleboro and who died on November 26, 2010. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on July 20, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Robert C. and Evelyn F. (Fales) Smith. She was a lifelong resident of the City of Attleboro and was a 1948 graduate of Attleboro High School. She graduated from Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in 1949. Mrs. Kohler was employed in the personnel department of the former L. G. Balfour Company in Attleboro and served as church secretary from 1982 -1991 for the Centenary United Methodist Church in Attleboro. In earlier years, Mrs. Kohler was involved with the Girl Scouts of America and the Rainbow Girls having also served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for several years. She was a member of the former Balfour Bowling League and was a volunteer at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro for many years. A longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Mrs. Kohler served her church community as a Youth Group Leader, member of TRI-M, member of the United Methodists Women, member of the Wells-Pearson Circle, member of the Staff Parish Relations and Finance Committees, member of the Church Council, member of the Know Each Other Better Club and was a lay delegate to the annual conference. She leaves two daughters: Linda A. Lucini and her husband, Albert, of Warwick, Rhode Island and Lisa A. Morais and her husband, John, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; two grandsons: Alexander Lucini of Providence, Rhode Island and Andrew Lucini of Warwick, Rhode Island; two granddaughters: Erin Logue of Auburndale and Madison Morais of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, January 21, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Centenary United Methodist Church, North Main Street Route 152 at Sanford Street, Attleboro with the Rev. Nancy Collins, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be private. Following church services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the church. Please omit flowers.
