Robert Ryan Windelspecht, 67, of Plymouth, MA, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Patricia H. (Haven) Windelspecht for more than 40 years. Bob and his wife, Patty, resided in Plymouth, MA for the past 13 years, having previously lived in Birmingham, AL; Cleveland, OH; and Albany, NY. Born on June 19, 1948 in Albany, he was the son of the late Francis G. Windelspecht and the late Ruth (Ryan) Windelspecht, and the brother of the late Noel (Windelspecht) Miller; Sister Karen Windelspecht; and Fred Windelspecht.Continuing a family tradition, Bob was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, where he was All Albany with his brother on the CBA varsity basketball team. Bob went on to receive BS in Accounting from Siena College in Loudonville, NY. Bob began his career with Ernst & Ernst (now E&Y), as a Certified Public Accountant, and then transitioned to banking, first with KeyCorp in Albany and Cleveland, becoming Executive Vice President and Controller. He then joined AmSouth Bank in Birmingham, as Executive Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. Following his retirement with more than 25 years in banking in 2000, Bob was an advisor in business acquisition and financial management, and had an avid interest in the stock market and investment strategies.With a lifelong commitment to education, Bob served for many years on the Advisory Board of Trustees of both the Academy of the Holy Names, in Albany, and the Advisory Board at Siena College, where he sponsored scholarships in both institutions in honor of his sister, Karen. He excelled in diverse sports from an early age, having pitched a perfect game in Little League baseball, bowled an almost perfect (299) game, and won the Annual Hole in One Contest at the Albany Municipal Golf Course at the age of 10. His sports interests continued throughout life, including partnering with a close friend for many years in member-guest golf tournaments. Bob had an endearing love for his family and treasured time spent with them, especially his 3 grandsons. In addition to his wife, Patty, he is survived by his cherished daughter, Katie (Windelspecht) McLaughlin and her husband, Sean McLaughlin, of Attleboro, MA; three adored grandchildren, Bryce, Charlie and Jack, all of Attleboro; MA; along with wonderful brothers and sisters-in law, nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Friends and family are also invited to attend the Funeral Service on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 133 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro, MA.Children's room is available during visitation and funeral service.
