Robert Ivan Pipes, 87, of Foxboro, MA, passed away on January 16, 2023, at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, MA following a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Norine Virginia (Thomas) Pipes to whom he was married on January 30, 1955.
Born in Roslindale, MA on February 24, 1935, he was a son of the late Vaughn Edward Pipes and the late Marguerite Evelyn (Day) Pipes.
He was a graduate of Wellesley High School and was employed as an avionics technician for the Raytheon Corporation for many years prior to his retirement.
Robert was a longtime member of the Yankee Beemers Motorcycle Club and as an ardent tennis player, was in the Top 10 in the New England Men's Amateur Circuit.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children: Jacqueline Day Marcure of Rehoboth; Jeffrey Thomas Pipes of Attleboro, MA and John Casey Pipes of Norton, MA; 8 grandchildren: Jacob and Josephine Marcure; Ethan, Aiden, Ian and Liam Pipes, and Casey and Sam Pipes; two sisters: Helen Turner and Elaine Pipes and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was the father of the late June Beckwith Pipes and the late Jamie Robert Pipes. In addition, he was the paternal grandfather of the late Noah Pipes and brother of the late Jean Boyd and Nancy Chase.
At his request, all services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northeast (New England) Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 22470, New York, NY 10087-2470 in honor of his late son.
