Robert David Mochrie, Sr., 75, of 33 Granite Street, North Attleboro, died on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton where he had been a patient for the past month. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy Ellen (Morrison) Mochrie to whom he was married on December 23, 1959 and entered into eternal peacefulness on February 26, 2012. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on September 17, 1938, he was a son of the late William B. and Helen (Snowman) Mochrie. Mr. Mochrie resided in North Attleboro for the past 40 years having moved to the community from Danbury, Connecticut. A proud serviceman, Mr. Mochrie entered the United States Navy in 1956 and proudly served for 20 years during the Korean and Vietnam War eras until his honorable discharge as a Chief Petty Officer in 1975. Mr. Mochrie earned his associates degree in business management from Fisher Jr. College. He was employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Attleboro for 20 years prior to his retirement in 2000. Mr. Mochrie was a former member of Ezekiel Bates Masonic Order in Attleboro. He treasured the time watching movies and reading books. His children recall with love and fondness a father tirelessly dedicated and devoted to his family. Mr. Mochrie leaves five children: Robert D. Mochrie Jr. deceased. George S Mochrie of Coventry, Rhode Island; Wendy J. (Mochrie) Mousseau of North Attleboro; Master Chief Andrew B. Mochrie, United States Navy, of St. Mary's, Georgia; Jennifer E. Mochrie of North Attleboro; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister: Carol and several extended family members and dear friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on TUESDAY, September 2, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. For those in need of a ride to visitation simply call the funeral home directly at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service with Veteran's Honors on WEDNESDAY, September 3, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Following funeral services military honors will be bestowed in honor of Mr. Mochrie's loyal and selfless service to his country. Private burial will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Following funeral services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Children's room is available during the visitation and the funeral service.
