Robert John MacEwen, 95 of North Attleboro, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, February 25, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Beryl (Bryant) MacEwen, to whom he was married on March 9, 1946.Born on May 17, 1920 in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of the late George N. MacEwen, Sr. and Hanna (Harding) MacEwen.Robert was a graduate of St. John High School in New Brunswick, and proudly served in the Canadian Army during World War II as a Captain, stationed in Africa and Italy with anti-tank artillery units. He retired from the Balfour Company in 1982, having worked for thirty-five years as a Sales Manager.A resident of North Attleboro since 1948, Robert also enjoyed time at his family's summer cottage in Plymouth, VT. He was the Treasurer of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Attleboro, MA, and a Lay Leader of the church. Robert was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a member of the Ezekiel Bates Masonic Lodge, and long enjoyed building homes.In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his dear children: Robert G. MacEwen and his wife, Dianne MacEwen, of Brunswick, ME; Barry J. MacEwen of North Attleboro, MA, whose late wife, Carolyn "Paige" MacEwen passed away on January 31, 2015; Christine J. MacEwen of North Attleboro, MA; and Cameron C. MacEwen and his fiancée, Mary Palango, of Wrentham, MA. Robert leaves six cherished grandchildren: Kirstie, Kate, Keegan, Kerry, Kayla, and Christopher; his niece, Sandra; and his nephew, Scott. He was the brother of the late Norman MacEwen.Visitation and Funeral Services are by invitation only.
