Robert H Lowney

Robert H. Lowney, 85, of Old Post Road, North Attleboro, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, December 11, 2014. He was the husband of the late Catherine L. (Beaulac) Lowney to whom he was married on May 14, 1955 and who died on August 16, 2012. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts on October 29, 1929, he was a son of the late Henry V. and Irene B. Lowney. He was the salutatorian of his graduating class at De LaSalle Academy in Newport, Rhode Island. Mr. Lowney was a veteran of the United States Navy having served from his enlistment on July 19, 1948 until his honorable discharge on July 7, 1952. He was a hard-hat deep sea diver. For more than 40 years, he was the proud owner and operator of Lowney Advertising Features. Previously, Mr. Lowney had been a salesman for the Attleboro Sun which is now known as the Sun Chronicle newspaper. His pride and joy was maintaining his home and gardens of which he did for more than 50 years. Mr. Lowney's devotion and love for his family was altruistic. He had a passion for the ocean, enjoying days on his boat, fishing, scuba diving, spear fishing and swimming. Many summers were enjoyed with his family in East Dennis. He treasured the times spent with his wife as they explored the beaches and quaint towns on their sightseeing escapades. He and his late wife, whom he adored, had enjoyed spending the winter months in Manasota Key in Englewood, Florida for many years. He leaves three daughters: Robin A. Lowney, Cynthia S. Lowney and Susan P. Lowney all of North Attleboro; a son: Daniel J. Lowney of North Attleboro; five grandchildren and one great grandson. He was the brother of the late Helen Breault and Margaret Copeland. Visitation respectfully omitted. Funeral services and burial will be private.
