Robert "Bob" Norman Fredette, 75, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Friday, May 18, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Charlotte E. (McAuley) Fredette, to whom he was married on October 28, 1977.Born on July 30, 1942 in Port Townsend, WA, he was the son of the late Bernard P. Fredette and the late Sue Marie (Langford) Fredette. A resident of Attleboro since the age of seventeen, Bob graduated from Attleboro High School, Class of 1961, and worked for twenty-eight years as the Director of Health Services at the Attleboro YMCA before retiring. He was known as "Bob from the Y".A warm, gregarious, and outgoing man throughout his life, Bob loved being physically active. He was a former Olympic weight lifting competitor, champion, coach, and weight lifting teacher, including for the Attleboro High School football team. He was ranked tenth in the country for the 198-pound class weight in 1971-72. He loved exercising, especially at the Attleboro YMCA, and especially enjoyed surfing until the age of seventy-three. Bob and his wife traveled the world, visiting dozens of countries and surfing at many of their beaches. More than anything, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for his faithful late Golden Retriever, "Hobie". In addition to his wife, Charlotte, Bob leaves his loving children Michelle F. Hulme and her husband, Christopher J. Hulme, of South Attleboro, MA; and Robin L. Fredette of Pawtucket, RI; and step-children: Danni R. Goulet and his wife, Margaret M. (Mitiguy) Goulet, of Attleboro, MA; and Guy W. Goulet of Canaan, NH. He was the adoring grandfather of Tabitha, Natasha, Ian, Ryan, and Jacob; and proud great-grandfather of Lilly, Rena-Jae, Victor, Elijah, and Scarlett. Bob was the dear brother of Richard C. Fredette and his wife, Kitty (Gonzalez) Fredette, of South Attleboro, MA; and leaves his nephews: Richard B. Fredette of Attleboro, MA, and Steven C. Fredette of Putnam, CT. He leaves his great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He was the former husband of the late Jeannette A. Ringuette. Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Bob by gathering for a Visitation on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, immediately followed by a Time of Sharing and Remembrance at 6:00 p.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Attleboro High School, Attention: AHS Blue Pride Gridiron Club, P.O.
