Robert E. Fogg, Sr.

Robert Bob E. Fogg, Sr., 96, of Canterbury Woods, Garfield Avenue, Attleboro; formerly of South Attleboro; died on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at his residence surrounded by the love of his dedicated family. He was the husband of the late Irene I. (Kennedy) Fogg to whom he was happily married for 53 years at the time of her death in 1991. Born in Franklin, New Hampshire on May 4, 1915, he was a son of the late George David and Alice Maude (Edmunds) Fogg. He was the oldest of six children. After high school, Mr. Fogg left Franklin, N.H. for Saco, Maine where he entered a Machinist Apprenticeship program. While at the Old Orchard Beach Dance Hall, he met Irene Kennedy who would later become his wife. Following World War II, he left the machinist trade and managed a farm feed and grain store for 10 years first in Hillsboro, N.H. and later in Pawtucket, R.I. Mr. Fogg later returned to his machinist trade and was employed for 30 years in Brookline and Newton prior to his retirement in 1980. Mr. Fogg resided in South Attleboro from 1951 until moving to Canterbury Woods in August 2007. He was the Past Noble Grand I.O. Odd Fellows Lodge #2, was a member of the Rebekah I.O.O.F. - Lodge #2, A.F. & A. Masons - Lodge #9, Order of Eastern Star Annette Chapter #184, all in Saco, Me. and was a member of the Lodge Council Chapter of Consistory in Portland, Maine. The Foggs owned vacation property in Plymouth, NH that they enjoyed for 30 years. While in Plymouth, the Fogg family shared time with another Attleboro family, Red and Mary Brooks. The two families enjoyed camping, hiking, swimming, golfing and skiing. While in Attleboro, Bob and Irene enjoyed square dancing and playing cards with friends. He was an avid golfer, playing in after-work leagues, and upon retiring, golfed with his buddies at Rehoboth Country Club. In his later years, Bob enjoyed line dancing, cards and many activities with his friends. He and family enjoyed trips to Aruba, Hawaii, Arizona, California and Alaska. He leaves three children: Carole McMorrow and her companion, David OBrien, of North Attleboro; Judith Frazer and her husband, Kent Frazer, of Dallas, Texas and Robert E. Fogg, Jr. and his wife, Lynn Fogg, of Norton, Ma. He was the grandfather of nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was the brother of Phyllis Colcord and her husband, Erford Bud Colcord, of Franklin, NH and was the stepbrother of Dottie Ackerman of Franklin, NH.; Dick Merrill of Concord, NH and Bill Merrill in Maryland. He was the brother-in-law of Bob Gilman of Franklin, NH. He was the brother of the late David and Donald Fogg, Doris Malle, and Shirley Gilman. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, August 12, 2011 from 4:00 7:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A ritual service will be conducted during visitation by the Masonic Order. Those in need of a ride to visitation may simply call (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis local transportation. Childrens room available during visitation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Newell Burying Ground, 1502 West Street, Attleboro with the Rev. Katrina Clinton, officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no services or procession from the funeral home prior to cemetery services. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Foggs name may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit the Alzheimers Association.
