Robert H. Clifton, M.D.

Robert Howarth Clifton, M.D., 93, of Andover and Westport, MA, Naples, FL and Lebanon, NH, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2018. Bob is survived by his daughters, Judy Gessner (Bill), Nancy Collier (John), Andy Harper (Gary) and Betsy St. Amand (Russell); grandchildren Chris (Cara Kidd) and Eric Gessner, Tom (Andrea) and Rob Collier, Benjamin and Gregory St. Amand; great grandchildren Isabella and Benjamin Gessner.Born and raised in Fall River, MA, Bob attended Dartmouth College, graduating with the class of 1946. He received his DDS from Harvard Dental School in 1948, and his medical degree in 1950 from Harvard Medical School. He was a medical officer in the Army and Navy. Bob and Dorothy Swett Clifton were married in 1950; they celebrated their 61st anniversary before Dot's passing in 2011.Over the course of his thirty-two year career, he practiced urology, retiring from Urology Associates in 1988. Bob's hobbies included traveling; lobstering; playing golf; including at Acoaxet Club on his 93rd birthday; and an extraordinary social life. He never lost his intellectual curiosity. Services will be private.
