Robert Dibrell Bury, Sr., known as "Bob" passed away on November 23, 2019 at the age of 82. Formerly of Brockton, and the eastern area of Massachusetts, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rita (Gauthier-Jones) Bury, and their children, Robert D. Bury, Jr. wife, Tracy (Sargent) Bury, granddaughter Meghan L. Bury and great granddaughter, Eliza, from Rehoboth, MA, Aubrey C. Bury of Millsboro, DE, Dana L. Bury of Brockton, MA, and step-daughter and Guardian, Robin (Jones) Masland, and husband, Chad Masland of Millsboro, DE. He is also survived by his sister, Norma Jean Bury Dillingham, and husband, Ralph Dillingham of Texas, along with several nieces and nephews along with his former wife, Jennie (Knapp) Corriveau and her children, Steven W. Bury, David S. Bury, and Diane M (Bury) Bradd, as well as several grandchildren & great grandchildren who all reside in FL. He was predeceased by his 2nd born son, Jeffery S. Bury and his older sister, Beverly M. (Bury) Daniels, CT. and older half-brother, Aubrey Bury, NY.
Born in Torrington, CT, to Aubrey L. Bury and Dorothy M. (Colby) Bury, he was the youngest of their 3 children, grew up in Washington Depot, CT, later moving to eastern MA. Bob was only 6 years old when he suddenly lost his Dad. His Mom discovered his love for music and dance, so he began dance lessons where he later would become an instructor for Arthur Murray Dance Studio, as well as an independent guitar musician and singer. He joined the Air Force and finished his education. A born salesman, he was a serial entrepreneur, in electronic repair and installation, but his true love was music. He and his wife Rita created Bob & Rita and The Country Sundowners, playing at many different venues around New England including Indian Ranch. His favorite hymn was "Faith of our Fathers". Bob's pastimes when not performing were golf, chess and feral cat rescues.
There will be a private family gathering in Bob's honor.
