Robert "Bob" "Bobby" John Allison

December 5, 1933 — May 29, 2021

Robert "Bob" "Bobby" John Allison 87, of North Attleboro MA, passed away suddenly and  peacefully  on Saturday, May 29, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Marion May (Dike) Allison whom he married on October 11, 1952. They celebrated 66 years of marriage until she passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019.
Born on December 5, 1933 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert John Allison and the late Agnes Glancey Allison.
When Bob was a little boy he auditioned and got the role of "Spanky "in The Little Rascals. His fame did not last long because his mother did not allow him to take the part.
Bob was a 1951 graduate of Norwalk (CT) High School where he was a starting guard, captain of the school football team and a member of the National Guard Reserves. After graduating high school, Bob married the love of his life, enlisted in the United States Navy and moved to Pensacola, Florida, where he proudly served his country in the Korean War from September 18, 1951 until his honorable discharge on September 29, 1954.
Upon his discharge from the Navy, Bob and Marion moved to Norwalk, CT where they resided for 15 years raising their three daughters. He started his post-Naval career selling appliances for Sears Roebuck until joining John Hancock in 1958. Bob led an incredibly successful career working his way up from a door to door salesman to Second Vice President of the company. Prior to his retirement in 1993, Bob was inducted into the John Hancock Hall of Fame, an ultimate honor bestowed upon only 250 people to date.
Upon his retirement Bob and Marion moved to Sarasota, FL where Bob enjoyed golfing, playing Black Jack and attending theater performances. They shared an incredibly special bond genuinely enjoying their life together and delighting in trips to Europe and throughout the world, often on-board cruise ships. They instilled their love of travel in their eight grandchildren by taking each one of them to Disney World in a special celebration of their 10th birthdays, enjoying every ride with them.
While residing in Florida, Bob had a standing offer to all of his children and grandchildren where he would send them a plane ticket to come and visit. During these visits he would lavish his family with trips to the beach, Disney World, and Busch Gardens. There would be nightly trips to dinner and visits with Marion to the beauty parlor. Much to his dismay, none of his children or grandchildren ever picked up the game of golf.
After several years in Florida Bob and Marion moved back to Norton, MA to be surrounded by their loved ones. Bob was an especially proud great grandpa to his 12 great grandchildren. While residing in Norton, Bob was voted into his condo association board, continued to improve his golf game, and was a member of the "Bandits" at the New England Country Club.
Bob and Marion lived in Norton until January 2019 when Marion passed away and he moved into The Branches where he spent his final years. Before the pandemic caused a lockdown, Bob started a beautiful tradition which his family will carry forth, sadly without him. Every Saturday morning any of the children or grandchildren who could make it went to Mackies Restaurant in North Attleboro.  He called it "The Breakfast Club" and enjoyed catching up with everyone, giving them advice, and sharing his many wonderful stories. His family all loved this so much.
True to his kind and loving nature, during the hardest years of his life, Bob became a friend to staff and residents alike. Whenever there was a question, concern, problem, or a job to fill, he was always there to listen and help. He was affectionately known as the "Mayor of the Branches" and was well loved by all who knew him there.
A man of strong faith, Bob was a communicant of the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark in the Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
He leaves his loving children: Deborah A. Azzolina and her husband, James P. Azzolina Jr., of Washington Township, NJ; Donna M. Anderson and her husband, Steve A. Anderson, of Mansfield, MA; and Anne Marie E. Servello and her husband, Frank J. Servello, of Attleboro, MA. He was the proud grandfather of Jennifer M. King, Allison E. McLean, James P. Azzolina Ill, Kristyn M. Medina, Elizabeth A. Azzolina, Rachel A. Rossi, Angela M. Schad, and Robert S. Cavicchi; and the adoring great-grandfather of Jake, Hannah, Rilee, Charlie, Gio, Dom, A.J., Gia, Ava, Matteo, Daniel Jr., and Stella. Bob was the brother of Catherine Groelly and her husband, Joseph Groelly, of Pennsylvania. He leaves his niece, Dawn, who held a special place in his heart, and his nephews: Jason and Brian; his extended family, and many dear friends.
