Robert Francis Barradas

Robert Francis Barradas, 83, of Newell Lane, Attleboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island following a heart attack and kidney failure. He was the husband of Joan F. (Callahan) Barradas to whom he was married on October 17, 1953. Born in Taunton, Massachusetts on August 7, 1928, he was a son of the late Joaquin and Maria (Sylvia) Barradas. He was raised and educated in Taunton where he was a graduate of Taunton High School. Mr. Barradas also studied at Rutgers University. He resided in his native community until moving to Attleboro in 1961. Following his education, Mr. Barradas entered into the banking industry where he would work for decades until his retirement. During his career he had been employed by the former Bristol County Trust Company, the former Attleboro Trust Company, the former Bay Bank and lastly for the former Bank of Boston from where he retired as a vice president. He proudly served for 15 years with the Massachusetts National Guard until his retirement from the organization as a Captain. Mr. Barradas was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro and enjoyed worshipping at the National Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette in Attleboro. He was a former member of the Attleboro Lions Club. As an ardent golfer, he was a member of Highland Country Club and also enjoyed downhill skiing with his family. His most treasured times were those spent creating lifelong memories with his family. In addition to his wife of 58 years, he leaves a daughter: JoAnn M. Foster of North Dartmouth; two grandchildren: Alaina Wright of Bellingham and Tiffany Foster of New Bedford; a great granddaughter: Rowan Wright of Bellingham; a brother: John Barradas of Taunton and several extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late Alice F. (Barradas) Butler. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 noon in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service immediately following visitation on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Victor Chaupetta, M.S. of the National Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette, Park Street, Attleboro, officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro.
