Robert Dennis Adams, 77, of Oak Street, Mansfield, died at his residence on Friday, November 21, 2014 surrounded by the love of his family. He was the husband of Gloria J. (Doucette) Adams to whom he was married on October 6, 1962. Born in Taunton, Massachusetts on July 26, 1937, he was a son of the late Ralph Amos and Isabella Patricia (Mehegan) Adams. He moved to the City of Attleboro at the age of 5 and remained a resident until 1976 when he moved to Mansfield. Mr. Adams was a 1955 graduate of Attleboro High School. Mr. Adams was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served from October 23, 1957 until his honorable discharge on October 8, 1959 when he was transferred to the United States Army Reserves. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. As a professional electronic technician, Mr. Adams was employed by L.T.X. in Norwood, Computer Identics, R.C.A. and EPSCO where he was a member of the ground support systems team for NASA's Gemini Rocket. As a child he would go arrowhead hunting with his father and that developed into a lifelong love for Native American culture. He was a member of the Norwood Cordsmen, a barbershop quartet. Mr. Adams was a history aficionado and dedicated sports fan having enjoyed football, golf, tennis, hockey and especially baseball. He loved to travel and over the years he and his wife enjoyed many trips to Hawaii, Alaska, the South Pacific, Tahiti and places throughout the United States. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he leaves two children: Denise Susan Sarafin of Huntington and Kevin Peter Adams of Mansfield; two grandsons: Theodore and Joshua Adams; a brother: Richard Adams of Bourne and several extended family members and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Ralph Adams, Roger Adams and Lawrence Adams. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial visitation to celebrate his life with Veteran's Honors on Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. For those in need of a local ride to visitation simply call the funeral home directly at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Funeral services will be private. Private burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro. Children's room is available during visitation. Please omit flowers.
