Rita Ann Paton

Rita Ann (Gay) Paton, 90, of Attleboro Falls, Massachusetts died of pneumonia on Saturday, February 7, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Joseph H. Paton who died in June 1988. Mr. and Mrs. Paton were married in 1945 in Pensacola, Florida where Joseph was a flight instructor. Following his discharge from the United States Navy, the couple returned to their native Attleboro. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on February 2, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Ann (Corbett) Gay. She was raised and educated in Attleboro and was a 1943 graduate of Attleboro High School. Since 1954, she resided in Attleboro Falls in the home she and her husband mostly built and decorated themselves. While Mr. Paton was an engineer and executive with Fram Corporation, they enjoyed traveling together - especially their several trips to Bermuda. Her family was the focal point of her life. She enjoyed line dancing and was an ardent television sports enthusiast with a love for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. She is survived by two daughters: Donna Richards and her husband, William, of Alexandria, Virginia and Portsmouth, Rhode Island and Kathy Heylin and her husband, David, of North Attleboro; a granddaughter: Shelley (Stack) Bokelman and her husband, Michael, of Franklin and two beloved great grandchildren: Nicholas and Lily Bokelman both of Franklin and several extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Thelma Gay. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Her Life on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Carole L. Baker, Pastor of Central Congregational Church, Attleboro Falls, officiating. A private graveside service followed by burial will be held at North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro. Children's room is available during the memorial celebration. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
