Rita E. (Bienvenue) Kinney, 84, most recently of Collins Street, Attleboro; formerly of Washington Street, Plainville, died on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late James Jewel Kinney, Sr. to whom she was married on November 28, 1946 and who died on October 10, 2008. Born in the Hebronville section of the City of Attleboro on June 2, 1928, she was a daughter of the late George and Marion (Lambert) Bienvenue. She was raised and educated and later raised her family in Attleboro. Several years later she moved to Plainville where she lived for 20 years prior to returning to Attleboro just a month ago. She had been employed at Augat, Inc. and Foster Metals but primarily remained a homemaker devoted and dedicated to her husband, children and, in later years, her grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro. Her favorite pastimes included playing bingo and scrabble, solving crossword and word search puzzles and "collecting recipes". She leaves three children: James J. Kinney, Jr. of West Barnstable; Paula M. Carter of South Attleboro and Daniel T. Kinney of Attleboro; four grandchildren: Alise, Traci, Timothy and Jesse; four great grandchildren: Lexi, Cassidy, Kyleigh and Aidan; a sister: Lorraine Lanni of Victorville, California and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a ride to visitation may simply call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Children's room available during visitation. The funeral cortege will be organized on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro and proceed to the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne for a 12:30 PM graveside funeral service. There will be no funeral service or opportunity to greet the family prior to the commencement of the funeral cortege. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Kinney's name may be made to either the Sturdy Memorial Foundation, Inc., PO Box 2963, Attleboro, MA 02703.
