Rita Bertha (Chabot) French, 89, of Bayberry Commons Nursing Facility; Pascoag, Rhode Island formerly of Cumberland, Rhode Island and Plainville; died on Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Hospice Facility in Providence, Rhode Island surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Walter Frank French, Sr. to whom she was married on April 27, 1946 in North Attleboro, Massachusetts and who had just died on July 22, 2012. She had prayed to St. Joseph to bring a wonderful man into her life and in 1946 her prayers were answered when she wed the man of her dreams. Born in North Attleboro, Massachusetts on August 24, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Aime Lewis and Philomine (Poirier) Chabot. She was raised and educated in North Attleboro and later attended the former Kenyon Commercial School, now Sawyer Business School where she completed a two-year course in one year with top honors. She was a dedicated and devoted homemaker to her family who cherished every moment spent in their company. She was a communicant of St. Martha Parish, Plainville. All of her favorite pastimes centered on her family and included making the "world's best" apple pie, gardening, various arts and crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting and she had a particular love for gathering family together for traditional Sunday dinners. She was very proud of her family's heritage. She leaves eight children: Walter F. French, Jr. of Pascoag, Rhode Island; David L. French of North Attleboro; Linda R. Campbell of Warwick, Rhode Island; Gary R. French of Lillian, Alabama; Dale T. French of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Nancy M. Harding of Douglas; Marie D. Smith of Warwick, Rhode Island and Kathy A. Linfield-Acheson of Norton; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was the sister of the late Edward Chabot and Cecile French. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Saturday morning, September 29, 2012 from 8:30 - 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Saturday morning, September 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Martha Roman Catholic Church, 227 South Street, Plainville with the Rev. William Lohan, officiating. Private burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Children's room available during visitation and while the cortege is being organized.
