Rita L. Fontes

Rita L. (Thomas) Fontes, 81, died Monday, February 24, 2020, at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, after a period of declining health.
Born in Norwood, she was raised and educated in Sharon, and was a graduate of Sharon Schools.
She was a resident of North Attleboro for the past 10 years, having previously living in Sharon for the majority of her life.
Rita was a dedicated homemaker and mother.  She was very active in Sharon civic events; serving on the 4th of July Committee, as a member of the Red Hat Club and as a member of the Fortnight League for many years. She also worked on a golf tournament for the Cape Cod Center for Women for the past 10 years and was active on the campaigns of US Rep. William Keating and State Rep. Louis Kafka for several years.  In her free time, she enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Fontes was the wife of Joseph D. Fontes and the beloved mother of Kevin M. Fontes and his wife, Christine, of Attleboro, MA; Joseph Fontes of North Carolina; and Steven Fontes and his wife, Leigh, of North Attleboro, MA.  She was the devoted Grammy of Paige, Sean, Rylee, Amanda, Jake, Max and Alexandra Fontes.  Rita was the sister of Carol Collett of Brockton, MA; Chuckie Thomas of Sharon, MA; Martin Thomas of Middleboro, MA and the late Donna Mancini and the late Francis Thomas.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Rita by gathering for a Visitation on Friday,  February 28, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by Funeral Prayers at 11:00 a.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home with Deacon Frank Tremblay officiating.
Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, MA.
