Richard Freitas, Sr.

Richard Freitas, 89, of Plainville MA, passed away on February 9, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Gloria (Silva) Freitas for 68 years.
Born on December 17, 1938, in Fall River MA, he was the son of the late John Freitas Sr. and the late Alda (Ratte) Freitas.
Richard enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country. He made the rank of Machinery Repairman Second Class and was honorably discharged in January of 1960. He spent his entire career as a tool and die maker. He belonged to many charitable organizations and was honored to be recognized by the Plainville athletic league as one of the founding fathers.
Always wanting to stay active, Richard enjoyed biking and playing a game or two of volleyball. He treasured his relationships with close friends and looked forward to their planned social gatherings. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife Maria who had passed away just eight days before him.
He leaves his children: Rick Freitas of North Attleboro, MA; Tammy (Freitas) Hamel of Bellingham, MA; Christopher Freitas and his wife Kathryn of North Attleboro, MA. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
