Richard Arthur Post, 72, of Westfield Drive, North Attleboro, died on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his residence surrounded by the love and care of his devoted family. He was the cherished husband of Judith A. (Rice) Post to whom he was married on July 6, 1963. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on April 28, 1940, he was the only son born to the late Melvin A. and Doris (Smith) Post. He resided in the Chartley section of Norton before moving to Attleboro and then to North Attleboro where he has resided since 1963. He was a 1959 graduate of Attleboro High School. Mr. Post was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served from September 1959 until his honorable discharge on August 27, 1962 when he was transferred to the United States Army Reserve program. He was first employed at the former St. Regis Paper Mill in Attleboro for 18 years as foreman and later was employed for more than 24 years at the former Brainin Advance Industries in Attleboro until his retirement in 2007. His favorite pastimes included gardening, taking daily long walks, performing yard work and spending time with his dogs. He was proudest of his children's accomplishments and, in later years, those of his five grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. Post leaves four children: Linda A. Adams and her husband, David A. Adams, of Taunton; Stephen A. Post and his wife, Lori L. (Larochelle) Post, of North Attleboro; Laurie A. Harvey and her husband, Gregg A. Harvey, of Plainville and Kathleen M. Poirier and her husband, Craig G. Poirier, of Bourne and a sister: Dawn Whitten in New Hampshire. He was the beloved "Puppa" to Alyssa Adams, Ryan and Allison Post, Garrett and Jenna Harvey, and was the uncle of a niece and a nephew. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation Veteran's Honors on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service. Those in need of transportation to visitation may simply call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis local transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service with Veteran's Honors immediately at the conclusion of visitation on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Geoffrey Little, Pastor of the All Nations Christian Church, New Haven, Connecticut and Mr. Post's nephew, officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Following cemetery services, family and friends will be invited to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Please do not send flowers.
