Richard Leroy Naslund

Richard Leroy Naslund, 82, of Solomon Street, Attleboro, died on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a period of declining health. He was the husband of Therese Laura (Larence) Naslund to whom he was married on August 11, 1956. Born in Duluth, Minnesota on July 17, 1930, he was a son of the late Leroy Naslund and Clara (Olson) Naslund Lassonde and was the stepson of the late Armand Lassonde. Raised and educated in Minnesota, Mr. Naslund was a graduate of Two Harbors High School. Mr. Naslund entered the military on January 15, 1951 and served honorably until his discharge on December 8, 1954. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. During his tenure with the armed services, he befriended John Glenn. Mr. Naslund began his professional career at the former Metals and Controls in Attleboro where he was employed for seven years prior to the firm being acquired by Texas Instruments where he would work for another 25 years in both the Research and Development and Nuclear Divisions. He was a resident of Attleboro since 1960 having moved to Massachusetts from neighboring Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Mr. Naslund attended St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Attleboro. He appreciated and loved to spend time in the outdoors and was a member of numerous Native American Indian organizations. He will be lovingly remembered for being the epitome of a true "family man". Mr. Naslund leaves three children: Bruce E. Naslund and his wife, Geraldine L. "Gerrie" (Gautieri) Naslund, of Attleboro; Pamela M. Folan and her husband, Robert Folan, Sr., of Attleboro and Brian A. Naslund of Attleboro; four grandchildren: Robert Folan, Jr. and his wife, Pamela Folan, of Windham, New Hampshire; Heather Folan of Attleboro; Erik Naslund of the Brighton section of Boston and Kayla Naslund of Attleboro; a great grandchild: Isabel M. Folan of Windham, New Hampshire; a brother: Lyle Lassonde of Lakeville, Minnesota; a sister: Jane Walker of Homosassa, Florida; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral immediately following visitation on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 4:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Victor Chaupetta, M.S. of the National Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette, Park Street, Attleboro, officiating. Burial will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral. Following funeral services on Friday afternoon, August 31, 2012 an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship, refreshments and remembrance at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit the Parkinson's Disease Association.
