Richard Edward Moreau

April 11, 1949 — September 23, 2015

Richard Edward Moreau, 66, of Orchard Drive, North Attleboro, MA, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Knightdale, North Carolina. He was the beloved husband of Kerry J. (Devlin) Moreau, to whom he was married on August 11, 1989. Born on April 11, 1949 in Dover, NJ, he was a son of the late Lucien Moreau and Ursula (Lombardo) Moreau. Richard was a graduate of Central Falls High School, Class of 1967, and received his Bachelor Degree from Bryant University. He proudly served our country, and was Honorably Discharged from his service, as a Specialist 4th Class in the U.S. Army, having been awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Richard was qualified by the Army to operate heavy artillery, and was the recipient of the Army Sharpshooter Marksman M-14 and M-16 Badges. A resident of North Attleboro for the past twenty-six years, he retired from employment as an Operations Manager for XTRA Lease, where he had worked for more than twenty-two years. Richard lived an active life full of varied interests and passions, and filled with love. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement; was an avid reader with an interest in money, political and bicycling magazines; delighted in maintaining his yard, growing vegetables in his garden and feeding the birds with his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and had a special fondness for the Grand Canyon. Richard was a proud Democrat who closely followed politics. On August 26, Richard set out to accomplish his dream of biking from North Attleboro to Florida. Over four weeks, he rode more than 600 miles before he passed away as he slept in a campsite he had made in Wendell, NC. In addition to his wife, Kerry, he is survived by his son: Ryan Richard Moreau and his wife, Amy (McGreevy) Moreau of Merritt Island, FL; three daughters (technically step-daughters): Kelly A. Erskine and her husband, Kent C. Erskine of North Attleboro, MA; Lisa B. Carvalho of North Attleboro, MA; and Jillian L. Back and her husband, Garrett Back, of Halifax, MA. Richard was the brother of Ronald M. Moreau and his wife, Linda Moreau, of Cumberland, RI; John Moreau and his wife, Nancy Moreau, of South Attleboro, MA; and Dennis Moreau and his wife, Cindy Moreau, of Norton, MA. He leaves his treasured grandchildren: Quinn C. Erskine, 9; Harlowe W. Erskine, 5; Aero W. Erskine, 2; Jolee R. Farquharson, 5; Troy M. Therrian, 2; and Alexa J. Back, 3 months; as well as several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
