Richard Patrick Lonergan

Richard Patrick Lonergan, 73, of North Attleboro, MA passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, August 21, 2021, after having enjoyed a typical day of golf the previous day. He was the husband of Marianne (Kwedor) Lonergan, whom he married on September 17, 1972.
He was born in Brockton, MA, on March 26, 1948, and was a son of the late Richard Vernon Lonergan and the late Doris (Buckland) Lonergan Thomas.
Raised and educated in Stoughton, MA, Richard was a 1966 graduate of Stoughton High School and was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. He proudly served his nation as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
Richard was employed as a Project Manager for ENE Systems in Canton, MA, for over 30 years prior to retiring in 2014, and was a resident of North Attleboro since 1980.
His favorite pastimes included playing golf, particularly at Sharon Country Club; spending time with family creating lifelong memories to cherish; and being an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his two loving children: Gregory Andrew Lonergan of North Attleboro, MA, and Jody Elizabeth Lonergan and her husband, Patrick Smith, of Norwalk, CT; his grand dog: "Butters" of Norwalk, CT; his siblings: Paul Thomas of East Bridgewater, MA, and Jeffrey Thomas of Easton, MA; several nieces, nephews, his extended family, and many dear friends. He was the brother of the late Jean Virginia Campbell, Christopher Thomas, David Thomas, and Kenneth Thomas.
Family and friends will be invited to attend a committal service with Military Honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, at a future date and time to be announced on this website.
Inurnment will follow the committal service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Richard's name to the Disabled American Veterans, State House 546, Boston, MA 02133
