Richard "Dick" Howard Baker, 74, of North Attleboro, MA, and Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 26, 2017 on Hilton Head Island, with his beloved and devoted wife of forty-seven years, Donna Ann (Foster) Baker, at his side. Born on January 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Robert L. Baker and the late Doris G. (Brown) Baker. Dick proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Navy and served for four and one-half years as an Air Traffic Controller aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Forrestal, and at a Navy base in Norfolk, VA. After the Navy, he worked as an Aircraft Mechanic and later as a Recreational Vehicle Technician.Dick loved flying, and in fact soloed on his sixteenth birthday. He and Donna enjoyed spending time with their dogs, camping, and especially spending time in South Carolina at their second home at Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort and Marina.In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by his beloved Sheltie, "Tucker"; his mother-in-law, Beryl K. Foster; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Douglas B. Foster and Kathleen A. Foster; and his sister-in-law, Joyce Foster. He was the loving uncle to James D. Foster and Kimberly F. Lachut; and great-uncle to Justin D. Foster, Jack F. Lachut, and Michael F. Lachut. Dick leaves his dear cousin with whom he was especially close, David Brown and his wife, Suzanne, of Callawassie Island, SC. Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Dick by gathering for a Memorial Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.Burial services will immediately follow the funeral service in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro.Children's room is available during visitation and funeral services.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick's memory to either the North Attleboro Animal Shelter at Town of North Attleboro, Attn: Animal Shelter, 43 South Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760; or to the Sturdy Memorial Foundation, Development Office for Oncology Department, Sturdy Memorial Foundation, Inc., 211 Park Street, P.O.
