Richard "Dick" Francis Fein, Sr., 79, of John Swanezy Road, North Attleboro, died on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease and with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of Carolyn J. (Willis) Fein to whom he was married on August 8, 1964. Born in Boston, Massachsuetts on September 28, 1933, he was a son of the late J. Andrew Fein, Sr. and the late Ann (Kelly) Fein. He was raised and educated in the West Roxbury and Roslindale sections of Boston and was a 1951 graduate of Roslindale High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and earned the rank of staff sergeant while serving from 1953 - 1957 during the Korean War. Mr. Fein was employed as a planner and estimator for SUPSHIP Boston and previously worked at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station and Boston Naval Shipyard all covering almost 40 years of government service prior to his retirement in 1992. He moved to the Village of Attleboro Falls in 2005 having previously resided in Foxboro for 40 years. While residing in Foxboro, Mr. Fein was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Fein was an avid runner. He ran the mile in a time of 4:08 in the 1956 Olympic trials. Despite this incredible accomplishment he did not make the Olympic team. He started his running career in high school and continued through his Air Force tenure. He enjoyed flower gardening and was an ardent photographer. Mr. Fein was electronically talented and enjoyed building and repairing television sets, and doing various plumbing and electrical projects around his home. In addition to his wife, he leaves two children: Richard F. Fein, Jr. and his wife, Tara L. (Reece) Fein, of Attleboro Falls and Loralyn E. (Fein) Clarkin and her husband, William S. Clarkin, of Attleboro Falls; five grandchildren: Shane, Jed and Regan Fein and Sophia and Isabelle Clarkin all of Attleboro Falls; a brother: Leo J. Fein of the Village of Centerville, Barnstable and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late John A. Fein, Jr. and Robert M. Fein. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A brief funeral service with Veteran's Honors will immediately follow visitation on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 4:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Glenn Rounseville officiating. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service. Following funeral services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
