Richard George Cote, 75, of Attleboro, MA passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on April 23, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. He was the husband of the late Nancy (Knight) Cote who died in 1972.
Born in Attleboro, MA on November 5, 1945, he was a son of the late Ernest P. Cote Sr. and the late Louise Elizabeth (Mendes) Cote. Raised and educated in Attleboro, MA, he was a longtime resident of the city, having previously resided in Pawtucket, RI and Warwick, RI.
He was employed by Georgia-Pacific in Warwick, RI and later by BlueLinx in Bellingham, MA.
Richard was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Attleboro, MA and the Portuguese American Club in Attleboro, MA. He loved to cook and was known for his spectacular corn chowder and spaghetti and meatballs. He will be lovingly remembered for being "a loving person, hard worker, and a man with a big heart who was generous and who adored his grandchildren". Among his favorite pastimes were playing BINGO and golfing, particularly with his brother, Ernest P. Cote, Jr.
Left to mourn his passing are his son: Corey Richard Cote and his wife, Kathy Farrell-Cote, of Warwick, RI; his two grandchildren: Brandon Cote of Warwick, RI, and Talia Cote of West Warwick, RI; two step-grandchildren: Kylee Hill and Zachary Hill both of Warwick, RI; his siblings: Michael A. Cote of Attleboro, MA; Dolores (Cote) Brooks of Providence, RI; Ernest P. Cote, Jr. of Attleboro, MA; Joyce Taylor of Attleboro, MA and Pearl Cote of Attleboro, MA; and his extended family members, including generations of nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Beverly Ann Avellar, the late Henry "Chucky" Cote, the late James Cote, the late Ronald E. Cote, and the late Robert E. Cote.
With strict adherence to applicable Covid-19 health precautions in the Commonwealth of Massachsuetts, the family cordially invites family and friends to join them for a Celebration of Richard's Life on Saturday, May 22, 2021, anytime between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Portuguese American Club, 65 Prairie Ave, Attleboro, MA.
Traditional services have been respectfully omitted at Richard's request.
Burial will be private.
