Richard "Dick" W. Cathcart, 72, of Chapel Hill Drive, Attleboro, died on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. His death followed a ten year intermittent battle with cancer. He was the husband of Loretta "Lorie" (Shea) Cathcart to whom he was married on May 11, 1991. Born in Attleboro, Massachsuetts on February 19, 1941, he was a son of the late William W. and Maude (Sommerskill) Cathcart. He was raised and educated in Norton where he was a 1959 graduate of Norton High School. He resided in Attleboro for the past 50 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Cathcart was a partner with Lundey, Inc. in Attleboro for the past 27 years. Prior to Lundey he had been employed by Pylon. He will be lovingly remembered as an enthusiast of most sports. He enjoyed watching his children and granddaughter participate in community events and athletics. He was a car enthusiast who also enjoyed travel, particularly to the Carribean Islands. His hobbies included working in his yard and home improvement projects. In addition to his wife, he leaves three children: Jennifer L. Newton and her husband, Eric C. Newton, of South Attleboro; Julia S. Cathcart of Attleboro and W. Weston Cathcart of Attleboro; a granddaughter: Rebecca L. Newton of South Attleboro. He was the brother of June Nason of Norton and the late Ruth Goold. He also leaves many extended family members and dear friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service. Burial will follow in Norton Common Cemetery, Norton. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
