Richard F. Benkavitch

Richard "Dick" F. Benkavitch, 73, of Walpole, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Clark House of Fox Hill Village in Westwood. Born in Norwood on December 10, 1940, he was the son of the late Stanley and Wanda (Walukevich) Benkavitch. He spent most of his life in Walpole, and as a child he was an alter boy at St. Mary's Church in East Walpole. Mr. Benkavitch was a 1964 graduate of Stonehill College in Easton, MA; graduating with a Masters Degree in History. He was a former Principal in Hooksett, NH school system. Dick was known as a good hearted people-person and animal lover, who enjoyed helping others in need. His favorite pastime, however, was golf, having held a Massachusetts State Golf Title. Mr. Benkavitch is survived by his son: Mark N.S. Benkavitch of Walpole; his daughter: Kate P. Duklewski and her husband, Christopher Duklewski of Halifax, PA; his nephew: Paul "P. J." Alan Seymour, Jr. of North Attleboro; step-nephew: Michael Pecararo and step-niece Christine Oliveira. Richard was predeceased by his sister Joan "Joanie" Marie Seymour, RN, who passed away on January 22, 2014 and his nephew Michael W. Seymour, who passed away October 12, 2013. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 PM and funeral services immediately following visitation at 4:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Childrens room is available during the visitation and funeral service. Burial will be private.
