Raymond Charles Vassar

Raymond "Ray" Charles Vassar, 83, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island passed away on September 12, 2022, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence, Rhode Island.  He was the beloved husband of Loreen C. (St. George) Vassar to whom he was married on June 28, 1969.
Born in Pawtucket, RI on September 16, 1938, he was a son of the late Benjamin R. Vassar and the late Lillian B. (Ouellette) Vassar.  He was raised and educated in his native community and remained a lifelong resident of the City of Pawtucket.
Mr. Vassar was employed as an autobody repairman for the former County Motors in Pawtucket for 4 years prior to retiring at the age of 62.
A lifelong car enthusiast, he enjoyed attending antique car shows and television shows featuring automotives; however, his greatest joy was time spent creating memories with his family.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two children: Lisa L. Godfrey and her husband, David G. Godfrey, Sr. of Norton, MA, and Steven Vassar in Florida; six grandchildren: Erin L. Godfrey, Lily A. Godfrey, David G. Godfrey, Jr., Joshua D. Godfrey and his wife, Vilma Godfrey, Julia M. Vassar and Bailey B. Vassar; his great grandchildren: Brady, Bryce and Bradley Godfrey; his sister: Judy Renchan and her husband, Luke Renchan of Central Falls, Rhode Island and his sister-in-law: Marcia Theresa Vassar of North Attleboro, MA, wife of his late brother, Roland Lester Vassar.  He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was the father of the late David M. Vassar.
Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
A private service will be held at Notre Dame Cemetery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island with burial following.
Please omit flowers.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ray's name may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
