Raymond Ernest Tammany, Jr., 72, of Summer Street, Rehoboth; formerly of Owen Street, Pawtucket, Rhode Island; died on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at his residence surrounded by the love and dedicated care of his family. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on July 31, 1939, he was a son of the late Raymond E. Tammany, Sr. and Marion P. (McGill) Tammany. He was raised and educated in Pawtucket where he attended Tolman High School. He resided in the same home on Owen Street for 65 years prior to moving to Rehoboth in March. Mr. Tammany was employed in the textile industry from 1957 1961 and worked as a steelworker for Washburn Wire in the Rumford section of East Providence, Rhode Island from 1962 1983. In 1983, Mr. Tammany started working for the Town of Lincoln, Rhode Island as a maintenance engineer for the Lincoln Housing Authority from which he retired in 1991. A proud union member, Mr. Tammany was a member of the Textile Workers of America; the Steelworkers Union of America and the Laborers International Union. Described as an awesome carpenter, he enjoyed designing and building things with originality and passion. The consummate entertainer, he was affectionately known as the Master Entertainer and family and friends were always welcome to the Skippers Quarters in his home that became a place for creating countless memories and the location for numerous family events. His home was his heaven. He leaves two children: Randy Tammany and his wife, Ginnie (Arena) Tammany, of North Attleboro and Coleen M. Childs and her husband, Ted Childs, of Rehoboth; eight grandchildren: Nicholas Tammany of Lenox, California; Alicia Araujo and her husband, John Araujo, of Quincy; Brandi Snell and her husband, Brian Snell, of Haverhill; Eric Childs and his wife, Tiffany Childs, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Joshua Childs of Attleboro and Shana, Jenai and Tiani Childs all of Rehoboth; a great granddaughter: Milena L. Araujo of Quincy and several extended family members including Lisa C. Garrahan and Corey J. Cole and dear friends. Luis Serio, Chaplain of Beacon Hospice, Fall River, Massachusetts, officiating with the assistance of Sean Dennison, Music Minister. Burial will be private.
