Ranjith W. Wijesinghe, 80, of Foxboro, MA., passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of PushpikaWijesinghe (Wijegunawardena). They were happily married for 48 years.
Born on January 1, 1944, in Colombo, Sri Lanka; he was the son of the late Wijesinghe-Pathriage "Hendrick" Perera and Yasawathie S. Wickramathilaka.
Ranjith earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Brighton, UK. He was employed as a software engineer working on embedded systems for private and government organizations for many years before retiring. Ranjith was a kind soul and devote member of the Sri Lankan Association of New England, where he served as the organization's president for some years - overseeing the growth of the organization from a handful of families to over 400. Ranjith will be most remembered for his creative spirit, often-times spending time creating artwork, building sets for various performances, taking pictures of family and friends, playing music, and creating intricate decorations for the New England Buddhist Vihara in Grafton, MA. He lived a full life, interlaced with friends, family and laughter - he will be missed dearly.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving sons, Channa Wijesinghe and his wife Anu of Sharon, MA., and Nuwan Wijesinghe and his wife Lana of Mansfield, MA.. He was also a beloved grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, Ameer, Roshan, Jordan, and Naomi. He is also survived by his devoted siblings, Ranjini, Lakshman, Dayani, and Sriyani based in Sri Lanka.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, followed by a Buddhist ritual service at 6:00 pm and words of remembrance at 6:30 - 7 pm.
