Ralph "Cooper" Woodworth, 88, of Rocklawn Avenue, Attleboro, died on Monday, May 7, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Carla S. (Schoen) Woodworth to whom he was married on September 9, 1977. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on December 13, 1923, he was a son of the late Roy C. and Edith (Faulkner) Woodworth. He was a lifelong resident of the City of Attleboro and was a 1942 graduate of Attleboro High School. He later earned his Bachelor's degree from the former Bryant College. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served honorably from his enlistment on April 2, 1943 until his discharge on April 8, 1946 with the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. Mr. Woodworth was the co-owner with his brother, Newton C. Woodworth, of the family-owned business, L. H. Cooper Company, prior to his retirement in 1987 when the company's succession was placed in the third generation of the family. L. H. Cooper Co. had a presence on the Attleboro storefront for decades as a newspaper storefront and distributor. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and customers for his strong work ethic and working seven days a week for decades. A lover of animals, Mr. Woodworth enjoyed playing polo at Glenn Farms in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He was a lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Attleboro. In addition to his wife of 34 years, Mr. Woodworth leaves his brother: Newton C. Woodworth of North Attleboro; a niece: Carol Gordon of Norton and several extended family members, friends and countless loyal patrons. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Centenary United Methodist Church, 39 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro with the Rev. Nancy Collins, Pastor, officiating. Private burial with military honors will follow at North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro. Please omit flowers.
