Rafaela Munoz

Rafaela Muñoz, 96, of Wrentham, MA, peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, MA, with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Federico Herrera.Born on October 24, 1920 in Guatemala City, Guatemala, she was the daughter of the late Mr. Burgos and the late Maria (Muñoz) Burgos. Raised and educated in Guatemala, Rafaela came to the United States forty years ago and worked hard as a cook, nanny, and seamstress. Rafaela was a member of Iglesia Pentacostal Nueva Vida en Cristo church in Pawtucket, RI. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and coloring, and loved spending time with her family, most especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the beloved mother of Celsa Muñoz of NY; Francisco Herrera of Brooklyn, NY; Bernada Dorta of Brooklyn, NY; Marta Marchiano of NJ; and Gilda H. Muñoz of Attleboro, MA; and was predeceased by six cherished children. Rafaela is survived by many adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was the sister of Abel Burgos of Indianapolis, IN and Lydia Burgos of Guatemala City, Guatemala, and was predeceased by one sister and four brothers. She leaves many nieces and nephews.
