Phyllis L. (Lawton) Webber, 94, of Putnam Road, Foxboro, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood. She was the former wife of the late Richard P. Webber. Mrs. Webber was born in New Bedford on October 7, 1916, the daughter of Albert C. Lawton and Ruth E. (Morse) Lawton. The family later moved to Foxboro where she was raised, educated, and remained a lifelong resident. She was a 1934 graduate of Foxboro High School and a 1938 graduate of Framingham State College. She spent her many working years as a schoolteacher for the Massachusetts Teachers Association until her retirement in 1973. Mrs. Webber was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Foxboro, where she held various positions and sat on multiple committees including the Nominating Committee, Missionary Committee and Music Committee. Her love for music inspired her to sing and play with the church choir. An extremely active woman in the local area, she spent over 1500 hours doing volunteer work at the Norwood Hospital. Some of her other varied associations included the Hockomock Y.M.C.A. in North Attleboro, the Tri-County Christian Womens Club and President and Board Member of the Foxboro Tenants Association. She treasured the times spent with her beloved family and striking up a conversation with anyone she would meet. Some of her favorite hobbies included bird watching in her gardens, music, knitting and crocheting mittens and hats. She was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Mrs. Webber leaves four children: Donna L. Dickerman of Foxboro, Karen L. Adams of Rockville, Connecticut, Cynthia J. Richendollar of Maine and Wayne A. Webber of Palm Harbor, Florida; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. She was the mother of the late Scott B. Webber, who passed away in 2008. She was the sister of the late Roger M. Lawton and Norman F. Lawton. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, June 17, 2011 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 115 Mechanic Street, Foxboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Service immediately following visitation at 10:00 AM with the Rev. William C. Dudley, Senior Pastor of Union Church, Foxboro, officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxboro. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship, remembrance and celebration of Mrs. Webbers life at a location to be announced.
