Philomena "Phil" (Coyle) Pickering, 58, of East Washington Street, North Attleboro, died on Thursday, June 26, 2003 at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton after a long illness. She was the wife of Mason A. Pickering to whom she had been married for 27 years. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 14, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Francis Xavier and Sheila (Hastings) Coyle. She left Scotland for the United States at the age of 14 and settled in Foxboro where she was a 1963 graduate of Foxboro High School. She later attended Bentley College. Mrs. Pickering resided in North Attleboro for the past 14 years having previously resided in Attleboro, Mansfield and Foxboro. She had been employed as the director of residential services for Beta Community Services in Attleboro for 13 years until her illness in 1999. Mrs. Pickering was a former member of the North Attleboro/Plainville Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts, reading and gardening. She was the founder of the Women?s Craft Guild in North Attleboro. In addition to her husband, she leaves three daughters: Sheila Bouchard of Norton; Jill Conti of Wilmington and Aimee Hammond of Leominster; a son: Sean Hourihan of Columbia, Maryland; two brothers: Francis X. Coyle of Ayer and Domenic Coyle of Houston, Texas; 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend funeral services Sunday, June 29, 2003 at 4:00 PM in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Robert Powell, Associate Pastor of St. Mary?s Church, Seekonk, officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2003 from 2:00 ? 4:00 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of MA, One Abbey Lane, Middleboro, MA 02346. Supervised children?s room available during visitation and the funeral service. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 for free transportation.
