Phebe Ann Bliss

Phebe Ann (Benson) Bliss, 88, of North Attleboro, MA passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at The Branches in North Attleboro, MA. She was the beloved wife of Bruce James Bliss to whom she was married to on June 8, 1957.

Born in Attleboro, MA on February 14, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Harry Benson and the late Zanna Isabel (Munroe) Benson. She was raised in the seaport community of Newport, Rhode Island and resided there until moving to Attleboro where she attended and graduated from Attleboro High School. She later attended and graduated from the Sturdy Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Bliss served as a school nurse in the North Attleboro School Department from September 1974, until her retirement in June 2008.

She was a member of the Angle Tree Garden Club in North Attleboro and belonged to several bridge and book clubs and enjoyed playing Mahjong.

Phebe enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She was everything a grandmother and great grandmother should be - kind, caring and loving.

Phebe and her husband Bruce enjoyed their later years in their summer home in Falmouth. After a day on their boat ‘Blissful’ she made the best clams casino and lemon cake.

In addition to her husband of 67 years, she leaves her children: Karen L. Ellis and her husband, James D. Ellis, of Gales Ferry, CT; Judith Bliss Welch and her husband, Richard E. Welch III of Newburyport, MA and Susan J. Bliss Cohen and her husband, Daniel J. Cohen, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; her sister: Josie Lee of Blue Hills, Maine and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

She was the mother of the late Bruce J. Bliss, Jr. who died in September 2022 and was the sister of the late Harry Benson and Alan Benson.

Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.

A private graveside service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro, MA.
