Demers
Sep 14, 1957 — May 27, 2026
Peter Joseph Demers, Jr.
September 14, 1957 - May 27, 2026
Peter Joseph Demers, Jr. passed away unexpectedly at his home in North Attleboro on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. He was the devoted husband of Pauline L. Demers who predeceased him in 2025.
Born at Brockton Hospital in Brockton, MA on September 14, 1957, Peter was the loving son of the late Peter J. Demers, Sr. and Mary Ellen (Fahey) Demers.
Growing up in Mansfield, MA. Pete attended Mansfield Public Schools and graduated from Mansfield High School, class of 1975. While at MHS, Pete excelled in sports. He was a stand-out safety on the football team and led the Hockomock league in interceptions. Peter also participated in baseball but was drawn to the track. Breaking the school record in the pole vault event, Pete's school record endured for 30 years.
After high school, Pete began working at Fireside Nissan. He spent many years employed as Parts Manager until he transferred to Mastria Nissan in Raynham where he continued to work until the time of his death. He was proud of his 46 years working for Nissan. He was admired and respected by his Nissan colleagues.
An avid sportsman, Pete was a skilled golfer and skier. He loved fishing and water skiing. A lifelong fan of the New England Patriots, Pete was a season ticket holder of the New England Patriots for many years. He loved boasting that he had sat in "all 3 stadiums" in Foxboro. For years, Pete, his brother Danny and several friends, purchased tickets to one "away" game per season; traveling to various cities to watch the "Pats" play. Always an adventurer, Pete traveled the world skiing and playing golf. At the time of his death, he was planning a trip to Iceland.
Family was very important to Pete. He enjoyed his nicknames - Pops, Popcorn, Uncle Peter, Peter Joe and Peeps. He considered his family to be his special gifts.
"Pops" leaves behind his son, Ian Demers and his girlfriend, Alexis Schuko; and stepdaughters Lindsay Kinnon (Mike) and Heidi Charlebois (Pat). "Popcorn" was grandfather of Leah, Anna and Chloe. He will be missed by his companion Diane "Deej" Salvucci. "Peter Joe" was the well-loved brother of Deborah Demers-Peel (Virginia), Annemarie Sorrow, Katherleen Demers, and Thomas Demers. He is predeceased by 2 siblings: Maureen Webb and Daniel A. F. Demers. "Uncle Peter" made many memories with several generations of nieces and nephews. Pete's kindness, willingness to help, and loving ways will always be remembered by family, friends, and all who knew him.
Pete's funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10:00 am, at The Transfiguration of the Lord Parish at St. Mary's Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleborough, MA.
