Peter James April, 62, of South Washington Street, South Attleboro, died on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at his residence following an illness. He was the longtime friend of Chris McDonald of Altamont, New York. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on September 2, 1948, he was a son of the late Lucien J. and Alice M. (Cabral) April. He was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro where he was a 1969 graduate of Attleboro High School. He resided in Attleboro his entire life with the exception of five years that he resided in New York. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served from September 3, 1968 until his honorable discharge on August 17, 1970. Mr. April was employed as a sheet metal fabricator for many years having been employed most recently by Unique Metals in Rumford, Rhode Island. Previously, he was employed by various companies in New York. He was a member of the Sheet Metalworkers Union. Mr. April was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Attleboro and was an ardent fresh water fisherman and enjoyed boating and traveling. In addition to his longtime friend, he leaves three brothers: Stephen J. April of South Attleboro; James A. April of Attleboro and Richard D. April of South Attleboro; an aunt: Lorraine Cabral of Attleboro; a niece and two nephews. Visitation has been respectfully omitted Funeral services are private.
