Percy Nason, 82, of King Philip Avenue, Bristol, Rhode Island, died on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren, Rhode Island. He was the husband of the late Josie (Jones) Nason. Born in Gorham, Maine on July 9, 1925, he was a son of the late Delbert and Lillian (Whitney) Nason. Raised and educated in Maine, Mr. Nason resided there and in later years spent 20 years in California and time in Texas and Tennessee prior to moving to Bristol four years ago. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the World War II era in the 101st Airborne. He participated in the invasion of Normandy, Operation Market Garden and in the Battle of the Bulge where he was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart for his heroism. Mr. Nason was employed as a farmer and machinist. He leaves five children: Rosemary (Jack) Naastad of Bemidji, MN; Frank Nason of Springtown, TX; Delbert Nason of Bristol, RI; Greta (Bill) Spencer of Gallatin, TN; Terry (Tom) Thomas, of Springtown, TX; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; his siblings: David (Sandra) Nason of Windam, ME; Wayne (Nancy) Nason of Cornish, ME and Rebecca (Scott) Williams, of Standish, ME. He was the brother of the late Marjorie Austin, Bradley Nason and Greta Ellen Nason. Visitation has been respectfully omitted at his request. Funeral services and burial will be private.
