Paul Richard Thompson

January 30, 1941 — October 15, 2019

Paul Richard Thompson, 78, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice in Providence, RI.   He was the beloved husband of Nellie M. (Austin) Thompson, to whom he was married for 31 years.
Born on January 30, 1941 in Ayer, MA, he was the son of the late Clifford LeRoy Thompson and the late Dorothy (Wheeler) Thompson.
Before retiring, "Tip Top" worked for many years for the Town of Shirley (MA) Cemetery Department and for Ayer Corp Construction in Ayer, MA and in Maryland for twenty years.
A resident of North Attleboro for the past two years, he previously lived in Shirley, MA.
He enjoyed woodworking and NASCAR, and was an avid baseball and football fan. He loved watching Westerns, and was a real animal lover, with a special place in his heart for his late dog, "Wendy".  He especially cherished spending time with his wife and family.
In addition to his wife, Nellie, he leaves his beloved children:  Cynthia Lee Thompson-Elisio and her husband, Philip C. Elisio, of Pasadena, MD; Paul Richard Thompson-Nugent of Gardner, MA; and Michelle Ann Thompson-Oelfke of Shirley, MA.  He was the loving father of the late Janet Lee Thompson.  Paul was the brother of Helen Thompson of Fitchburg, MA and the late Clifford Thompson.  He leaves several nieces and nephews and many dear friends, including his special friend, Dana, of Lancaster, MA.
All services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Paul Thompson to a local animal shelter of one's choice.
