Paul Joseph Bibbo, 51, of Austin Street, New Bedford, died on Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston following a period of declining health. He was the husband of Lisa A. (Doherty) Bibbo to whom he was married on March 7, 1987 but were highschool sweethearts since the ages of 15 and 17. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on December 9, 1961, he was a son of the late Anthony John Bibbo, an Italian immigrant, and Antoinette Marie (Giglio) Bibbo. He was raised and educated in Sharon where he was a 1980 graduate of Sharon High School. Mr. Bibbo resided in New Bedford for the past year and was formerly a resident of Buzzards Bay, Norton and Mansfield. He was a self-employed auto and marine mechanic for many years until his disability. He treasured the times spent on the ocean motorboating, camping with his family at Nickerson Park and in the Lost River area of New Hampshire. Mr. Bibbo was most proud of his family's devotion and dedication to the United States Armed Forces. In addition to his beloved and cherished wife and best friend, Lisa A. (Doherty) Bibbo, he leaves his children: Tara Marie (Bibbo) Murray, United States Air Force Veteran and her husband, Staff Sergeant Bryan M. Murray, United States Air Force, stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey; Sergeant Paul Anthony Bibbo, United States Army, and his wife, Alessandra (Daly) Bibbo, stationed in Vincenza, Italy; Nicole G. (Bibbo) Shaffer and her husband, Staff Sergeant Apolo Shaffer, stationed in Pisa, Italy and his nine-year old daughter, Jacqulyn D. Bibbo, who have the honor of holding her father's hand as he entered eternal rest, of New Bedford; two grandchildren: Talan M. Murray of McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey and Alivia A. Shaffer of Pisa, Italy; his two brothers: Steven Hirsch, PhD of San Diego, California and Robert Bibbo of Sharon; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Linda Reed.
