Patrick "Pat" S. Donovan Sr., 72, of Nalcrest, Florida; formerly of Attleboro, MA, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the Vitas Inpatient Unit of Advent Health of Lake Wales, Florida. He was the husband of the late Marcia E. (Conway) Donovan who died on November 30, 2013.
Born in Ft. Dix, New Jersey on October 2, 1949, he was a son of the late Richard J. Donovan, Sr., and the late Annie M. (Murphy) Donovan. He was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro where he was a 1968 graduate of Attleboro High School.
He was a proud United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and very proudly retired from the Massachusetts Army National Guard with 24 years of honorable service.
Mr. Donovan was employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 38 years prior to his retirement in 2008.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars - Attleboro, MA; a member of the Moose Club in Attleboro, MA, and its Governor at one time; a member of the Attleboro Elks Lodge - #1014; and the American Legion - Post 312 in South Attleboro, MA.
Always a huge New England Patriots fan as well as the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed the time spent playing horseshoes with family and friends.
He leaves behind three children: Patrick S. Donovan Jr of Chester, NH; Tracey A. Donovan of Woonsocket, R.I.; and Daniel T. Donovan of Woonsocket, R.I.; and three step-daughters: Jennifer Conway of Seekonk, MA; Constance Fanizzi of North Attleboro, MA; and Kim Conway of Attleboro, MA; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his siblings: John Donovan of Lumber Bridge, NC; Patricia Patterson of Harrodsburg, KY; Nancy Kyhl of O'Fallon, MS; Michael Donovan of Attleboro, MA; Kathleen Hathaway of Woodbury, TN; Timothy Donovan of Nalcrest, FL; Kevin Donovan of North Attleboro, MA; and Barbara Donovan of Attleboro, MA; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and dear friends.
He was the brother of the late Richard Donovan Jr, Terrence Donovan, and Brian Donovan and grandfather of the late Nicholas Allard.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA. A Celebration of His Life with Veteran's honors will immediately follow at 12:00 Noon in the "Memorial Chapel"
Inurnment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.
