Patricia Jean (Smith) Betts, 81, of Tampa, FL., passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at West Bay of Tampa in Oldsmar, FL. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Betts, Sr., to whom she was married on April 19, 1958, and who died on June 12, 2004.Born on November 9, 1936 in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Fred A. and Ellen (Donahue) Smith.Patricia worked for a number of businesses during her lifetime, including Texas Instruments and IBM in Attleboro from 1952 until 1960, Univis, Donnelly's, Ocean Fresh, and in the cafeteria for the North Attleboro Schools from 1988 until 2006.Raised and educated in Attleboro, she was a graduate of Attleboro High School, where she had been the Head cheerleader in her senior year, and Class Secretary. She resided in North Attleboro since 1960 and previously lived in Norton, MA. A woman of great faith, she was a member of both St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in North Attleboro, and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Attleboro.Patricia was a vibrant, caring, and generous woman who volunteered for many years at Sturdy Hospital, and who loved singing. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, Harmonettes, the LaSalette Chorale, St. John's Choir, the Happy Hearts singers and the Norton Singers. More than anything, though, she loved being with her family. She was the loving mother of Donald R. Betts, Jr. and his wife, Rochelle J. (Achin) Betts, of North Attleboro, MA; Timothy R. Betts of Tampa, FL; and the late Barry M. Betts and his wife Paula (McSweeny) Betts . Patricia was the adoring grandmother of Donald R. Betts III of Charleston, SC; Michael R. Betts of North Attleboro, MA; Stephanie E. Betts of North Attleboro, MA; Thomas B. Betts of North Attleboro, MA; and Briana L. Betts of Norton, MA; and the proud great-grandmother of Jackson Betts and Anthony Betts, both of North Attleboro, MA. She was the sister of Robert "Bob" P. Smith and his wife, Joan (Hanley) Smith of Norton, MA; Marion L. Dennen of Fruitland Park, FL; and the late William M. Smith, Sr., and his wife, Marilyn (Nadow) Smith of N. Attleboro. She leaves several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Patricia by gathering for a Visitation on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 133 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial services will immediately follow in St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro, MAChildren's room is available during the visitation.
