P. Everett Carpenter, Jr., 85, of Attleboro, died peacefully at the Life Care Center of Attleboro on Thursday, July 18, 2013. He was the husband of the late Annette T. (Taylor) Carpenter, R.N. to whom he was married on November 7, 1959 and who died on February 3, 2002. Born in Taunton, MA on November 1, 1927, he was the son of the late Parker E. Carpenter, Sr. and Berina (Forbes) Carpenter. He moved to Attleboro in his youth and was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro where he was a 1945 graduate of Attleboro High School. He still treasured the friendships he started more than 7 decades ago. Mr. Carpenter was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during the World War II era. He earned an associate's degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1954. Mr. Carpenter was employed as the City Forester and Park Superintendent for the City of Attleboro from 1947 until his retirement on December 30, 1989. A lifelong resident of Attleboro, Mr. Carpenter was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 1014, Attleboro and was a founding member of the Old Colony Amphibians and as an avid scuba diver was a certified instructor at the Attleboro YMCA. He also enjoyed hunting and camping. Mr. Carpenter leaves two nephews: Douglas E. Corbett and Gregory P. Corbett, both of Attleboro, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gladys M. Corbett. Committal services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 2:30 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Route 28, MacArthur Boulevard, Bourne.
