Otto Nosko, 94, of Providence, RI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI, surrounded by the warmth of his family. He was the beloved husband of Gertraude A. (Sicksch) Nosko, to whom he was married on February 11, 1952 in Bad Aibling, Germany.Born on August 31, 1923 on a farm in Re?i?a, Romania, he was the son of the late Josef and Franciska (Salon) Noszko. Otto proudly worked for more than fifty years as a self-employed Master Tailor until retiring in 1998.A resident of Providence, RI, he also lived for many years in Fall River, MA, having moved to the United States from Germany. A kind and caring man who loved being with his family, Otto had attended Immaculate Conception Church in Fall River. He was a life member and officer of the German American Cultural Society of Rhode Island (GACSRI) and a prominent member of the German Culture Club (D.K.V.) of Bristol County. Otto enjoyed boating, deep sea fishing and cross-country skiing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and the Catskills of New York, well into his seventies.In addition to his wife, Gertraude, he leaves his loving children: Therese Pertl of Rosenheim of Germany; Gertraude Warren of Hull, MA; Peter Nosko of Germantown, MD; Irene Martin of Rumford, RI; Nikolaus Nosko of Fall River, MA; and Ingrid Nevar of Holyoke, MA. He was the brother of Nikolaus Noszko and Irene Hetzl, both of Gummersbach, Germany; and the late Josef Noszko. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and leaves several nieces and nephews.A private Family Gathering will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
